Information and communication technologies (ICTs) played a very crucial role in the delivery of library services most especially in academic libraries. However, the deployment of ICTs has brought about a revolution in the provision of library and information. Most of the Academic libraries in developing countries like Nigeria are yet to fully apply ICT to its daily operations and services. The study therefore will examine the present state of deployment of ICT in carrying out the library services and effect of ICT skills of librarians in academic libraries in northern Nigeria on the provision of library services and delivery within their academic environment. The research work highlighted the threat and challenges hindering the use/utilization of Information and communication technologies in Nigeria academic libraries However, primary source of data was used for collecting research information from twelve Academic libraries in the selected states. questionnaires containing structured questions was also distributed to about 3,250 respondents and nine research assistants (three from each state) was used for the first three month of the research work. Each and every research assistant were covered four institutions in every state. data collected during conducting the research were presented through the use of Tables and the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS 20 version). There should be a Provision of funds on a regular basis, the mandatory 10% of the budgetary allocation of the higher institutions of learning set aside for the academic Library should be so disbursed and monitored for judicious utilization. Multi-skilled librarians who familiar with information technologies related to mechanism of work in northern Nigerian academic libraries should be recruited..
